Summit Princeton Junction Therapy Programs

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

Clients who are participating in intensive outpatient programs or IOP for short attend five three-hour sessions per week lasting from one to three months. Intensive therapies help to achieve and maintain sobriety.

IOP therapy sessions are structured, yet allow more flexibility in the client’s daily life. The individual can live at home while attending required therapy sessions. Therapy sessions may treat a person’s mental health issues, such as depression. IOP sessions are generally smaller in size than other therapy groups, which allow more individualized focus on a client’s specific needs.

IOP therapies may include:

Group therapy: Outpatient clients meet in a safe environment and discuss the many different aspects of their addiction, lives, and coping strategies with a licensed therapist.

Individual counseling: One-on-one counseling session where clients work with a therapist on individual needs.

Psychoeducational programming: Clients will learn how to make behavioral changes with the knowledge they learn in therapy.

Pharmacotherapy: A patient with dual diagnosis may be given medication to treat both the mental health disorder and substance use disorder. This program will help them learn about their medication.

Drug and alcohol monitoring: Periodic drug and alcohol testing is conducted.

Alumni Program: Clients who have completed addiction treatment from Summit Behavioral Health in Princeton Junction are encouraged to join the center’s Alumni Program. The program offers gatherings of different types, such as picnics, dinners, and other events.

Outpatient Treatment

Clients in outpatient programs (OP) learn new strategies and obtain new tools to address their substance use disorder. These resources will greatly benefit the individual as they navigate their way through life without the use of drugs or alcohol.

Some of the outpatient options include:

  • Substance abuse education
  • Cravings and triggers management
  • Life skills
  • Mental health treatment
  • Relapse prevention training
  • Anger management

These programs run during the daytime or evening and are held in a comfortable and therapeutic environment.
