Desert View Therapy Programs
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
The partial hospitalization program is one part of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s continuum of care. It falls in the middle, between more intensive and less intensive programs. Intensive addiction treatment provides clients who need therapy options during the day while they reside at home.
Clients will participate in sessions, which could include life skills, medication management, dual diagnosis, substance use treatment, and relapse prevention. These are all valuable skills and resources to learn and employ to maintain sobriety and life substance-free.
Other therapies and treatment modalities offered are:
Individual, group, and family therapies
Behavioral therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
These are evidence-based treatment modalities that facilitate behavioral change through recognition and motivation to change.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
Individuals who do not require 24-hour supervision may engage in intensive outpatient programs, often called IOP. Clients who have completed medical detox and residential treatment may progress into this level of care.
The client can live at home while attending scheduled treatment during the day. This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals with substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. Therapy sessions tend to be smaller in size, focusing more attention on the individual than in a larger group session. Therapies may treat different mental health disorders, such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and chemical dependence.
Outpatient Treatment
Individuals who need less intensive substance use therapy may participate in outpatient treatment programs. These usually involve fewer than nine hours of therapy per week. They are beneficial to clients with low-level biological, psychological, and social needs.
Clients live at home and attend therapy sessions at Desert View Recovery. Outpatient treatment programs help the individual adjust to the challenges of living at home and receive support in therapy.
Therapies at this level of treatment tend to focus on addressing substance use and learning new methods of coping with the stresses and situations that bring on drug or alcohol use. Clients with dual diagnosis, or those with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, may learn how the two feed off each other and how to manage this condition.
People in outpatient treatment will also be involved in sessions that teach the life skills everyone needs, such as balancing a budget, finding a good job, and how to use community resources.
Relapse prevention is another essential part of outpatient care. Clients will learn how to recognize their triggers, steer clear of high-risk situations, and practice techniques to deal with cravings. Individuals might need to develop a defined relapse prevention plan to follow when not in session.
